Insurance industry representatives on Monday said a bill to improve benefits for serious hand and foot injuries would cost $20 million a year and would have “a profound impact on the system.”
But worker advocates at a New Jersey Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee hearing argued that the cost may be closer to $5 million a year and would be easily affordable by an insurance industry that makes billions of dollars in profits annually.
