The author of a bill that would allow injured workers in Montana to choose a treating physician is disputing an analysis saying the measure would undo one of the provisions from a 2011 reform bill.
Rep. Andrea Olsen, D-Missoula, introduced House Bill 313 at the end of January, which would eliminate a statute that allows carriers that accept liability for a claim to designate and approve a treating physician. The bill would require mutual consent of the injured worker and carrier to change the treating physician, and disputes would be subject to mediation.
