A federal judge on Friday sentenced Sam Solakyan to serve five years in prison and to pay $27.9 million in restitution to California workers’ compensation carriers that were victims of what the U.S. Attorney’s Office describes as a $250 million fraud scheme.
A jury in July 2021 convicted Solakyan, 40, on one count of conspiracy to commit honest services mail fraud and health care fraud, and 11 counts of honest services mail fraud.
Solakyan was CEO of several medical imaging companies, including Vital Imaging Inc. in Glendale and San Diego MRI Institute.
