A property maintenance and land clearing company in Florida is facing $94,415 in proposed federal penalties after a worker was burned in an explosion.
L.A. Disaster Relief and Property Maintenance LLC, of Interlachen, Florida, was cited Nov. 20 by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The company has 15 business days to contest the citations.
According to OSHA, the employee was injured at a McDavid work site in July. The company owner told the worker to ignite wood and debris inside an air burn box using a torch and gasoline, which caused an explosion, OSHA said.
