Bill Would Create New Method to Go After Bad-Actor Insurers

Though courts in neighboring states have ruled that workers' compensation carriers cannot be held liable in civil court for the unreasonable denial or delaying of benefits, a Louisiana lawmaker is determined to make sure that workers in his state can pursue bad-faith lawsuits. Louisiana State Sen. John Milkovich, D-Shreveport, pre-filed Senate Bill 180 on Wednesday.
