Governor Signs UR Study Extension Bill

The California Division of Workers’ Compensation will have more time to gather information to analyze the effects of fast-tracking certain medical treatments by allowing them to be provided without prospective utilization review under a bill signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom. Newsom on Tuesday signed AB 2848, by Assemblyman Miguel Santiago, D-Los Angeles. The bill extends to July 1, 2023, the deadline for the DWC to complete its analysis of the impacts of utilization review changes in SB 1160.
