Comp Opt-Out Group Broadening Legislative Push in Southeast

A Texas-based group pushing for workers' compensation "opt-out" legislation in Tennessee is planning to launch a similar initiative in South Carolina with hopes of passing a bill in 2016. The Association for Responsible Alternatives to Workers' Compensation met in March with a group of South Carolina employers, Workers' Compensation Commission Chairman Scott Beck and commission Executive Director Gary Cannon to discuss legislation that would allow employers to opt out of the state workers' compensation system.
