Court Overturns Denial of Benefits to Firefighter With PTSD

The North Carolina Court of Appeals overturned a denial of benefits to a firefighter for his post-traumatic stress disorder, finding he had timely provided notice of his condition and timely filed his claim after being diagnosed. Darryl Rimmer joined the Chapel Hill Fire Department in 1995. In 2002, Rimmer was struck by falling debris while fighting a fire and briefly lost consciousness.
