The California Department of Public Health released data showing state employers have reported 4,311 confirmed COVID-19 outbreaks through March 1.
Gov. Gavin Newsom last year enacted AB 685, requiring employers to report outbreaks and positive tests to local public health agencies. Non-health care employers are required to report three or more cases of COVID-19 in a workplace within 14 days, and local health departments will determine whether the cases constitute an outbreak. The bill took effect at the start of the year.
