OIG Finds Underreporting of Comp Payments to Social Security Administration

The U.S. Office of the Inspector General is exploring the possibility of getting workers’ compensation payment data directly from states after reviewing a sample of claims from a handful of states revealed that the Social Security Administration didn’t have accurate information on more than half of its beneficiaries. Inspector General Gail S. Ennis said her office is conducting an audit to determine the financial impact of work comp and public disability benefit reverse offset plans on Social Security’s disability program.
