The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration fined an Alabama contractor $84,789 for workplace safety violations it says resulted in the death of a worker.
OSHA said a 44-year-old foreman working for Dexter Fortson Associates Inc. was killed June 19 during storm recovery efforts in Coaling. While trying to replace a broken switch to restore power to a series of natural gas pumps, the worker suffered a fatal electric shock from voltage in energized overhead power lines.
