California, Louisiana Slower at Providing Medical Treatment, WCRI Finds

Workers’ comp systems quickly provide injured workers with emergency room treatment, X-rays or medical evaluations, but the amount of time that is needed for claimants to receive other medical services depends on the state, according to a new study from the Workers Compensation Research Institute. For example, the median time from date of injury to receiving neurological or neuromuscular testing ranged from 78 days in Wisconsin to 140 days in Louisiana. The study included 18 states.
