The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has proposed an update to its standards on slip, trip and fall hazards.
The most significant change, the agency said in a statement, allows employers to select the fall protection system that works best for them.
The rule also allows employers to use rope descent systems up to 300 feet above a lower level, prohibits the use of body belts as a personal fall protection system and requires managers to train workers on how to use fall protection equipment.
