The chairwoman of the board of directors for Colorado's Pinnacol Assurance penned an op-ed for the Denver Post saying changes are needed for the quasi-public insurer to remain competitive.
Akasha Absher said laws that govern Pinnacol haven't kept pace with the changing nature of employment. For example, the carrier can't directly write policies for out-of-state coverage, which results in losing business in a state that has the second-largest remote workforce in the nation and where most employers have workers in multiple states, she said.
