A bill introduced this week, three months ahead of the 2019 legislative session, would spell out that medical marijuana is just like any other prescription drug and must be covered by workers’ compensation insurance.
The move is seen as another step on the long and winding road toward full legalization of medical marijuana in New York state. But it leaves unanswered questions that may have to be hashed out by the courts for years to come, and does little to resolve the federal-state conflict over the legality of weed.
