A California appeals court ruled that a maintenance worker injured while boarding a vessel at a yacht club can pursue tort claims against his employer.
Brian Ranger, a maintenance worker at Alamitos Bay Yacht Club, slipped and fell while boarding a vessel in August 2018. He filed a workers' compensation claim and a civil suit, alleging that the club negligently failed to provide adequate training and caused the vessel to be unseaworthy and a danger for employees required to board it.
