The Florida Department of Financial Services announced that the owner of a construction company was arrested for an alleged payroll fraud scheme that avoided more than $88,000 in work comp premiums.
Yoni O. Martinez, owner and president of LAMX Construction Co. Corp., was arrested May 3.
The department said Martinez is accused of claiming $119,150 in annual payroll to Southeast Personnel Leasing for the policy periods of July 2014 to January 2017. Due to the estimated annual payroll provided, the estimated premium calculated for the policy period was $19,433.
