Workers’ compensation claims for COVID-19 filed later this year will be included in experience rating calculations for California employers.
Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara on Friday approved a Workers’ Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau regulatory filing that brings experience rating for COVID-19 claims to the Golden State.
Lara balked at previous efforts from the WCIRB to start including COVID-19 claims when calculating X-mods, saying he wanted to protect employers from being penalized with higher rates because of the disease.
