Southern California prosecutors said a fire captain faces felony charges after allegedly claiming he was injured at work on a day he wasn't working.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney said Thomas Merryman, 45, was charged with fraudulently claiming long-term disability "for a work injury that could not have occurred because he was not at work."
Merryman, a captain with the Los Angeles County Fire Department, allegedly submitted forged paperwork from a physician and another department captain in support of his long-term disability claim.
