Giving Florida’s first responders up to a year from the date of diagnosis to file claims for post-traumatic stress disorder could have a “significant” but unquantified impact on costs, according to a legislative analysis released Tuesday.
First responders must notify employers about a PTSD-related injury within 90 days of a qualifying event or manifestation of the disorder, whichever is later. They must file claims within 52 weeks of a qualifying event.
