Bill Proposes Presumption for Strikers Injured by Goon Squads

Monday, February 28, 2022 | 0

If Michigan employers hire private security to forcefully break up labor strikes, any injuries to striking workers would be presumed compensable, under a recently introduced bill.

Sen. Jeremy Moss, D-Southfield, on Thursday introduced SB 917.

The bill would create a presumption that any injury suffered by an employee during a lawful strike that “is connected to or related to the actions of a security company acting on behalf of the employee’s employer” arose out of and in the course of employment.

The bill was referred to the Senate Government Operations Committee but hasn’t been scheduled for a hearing.
