President Donald Trump's pick for labor secretary, the former law school dean R. Alexander Acosta, was sworn in on Friday.
The Senate confirmed Acosta by a 60-38 vote Thursday. Eight Democrats and one independent voted to approve him, the New York Times reports.
Most recently the dean of Florida International University College of Law, Acosta also spent time as a federal prosecutor. He told a Senate committee in March that he would "always be on the side of the law and not any particular constituency."
