A lawmaker who says he is trying to close a staffing agency loophole some employers are using to reduce workers’ compensation costs pared back the scope of his measure to focus on the manufacturing and mercantile industries.
Assemblyman Freddie Rodriguez, D-Chino, on Monday amended AB 2614 to limit its application to employers covered by Industrial Welfare Commission wage orders No. 1 and No. 7. IWC Order No. 1-2001 applies to the manufacturing industry, and IWC Order No. 7-2001 applies to the mercantile industry.
