A final rule published in the Federal Register on Monday will help protect commercial truck and bus drivers from being forced to violate federal safety regulations. The final rule will take effect on Jan. 29.
According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, the rule addresses three areas: procedures for commercial truck and bus drivers to report incidents of coercion to the FMCSA, steps the agency can take when responding to such allegations, and penalties that may be imposed on entities found to have coerced drivers.
