The California Division of Workers' Compensation adopted rules incorporating Medi-Cal's pharmaceutical reimbursement methodologies.
New rules taking effect July 1 will set drug costs based on the lowest of the national average drug acquisition cost, the wholesale acquisition cost, the federal upper limit or the maximum allowable ingredient cost. The rules eliminate the use of average wholesale price as a benchmark.
The rules also increase the dispensing fee for physicians to $10.05 from $7.25.
