BrickStreet, Motorists Mutual Finalize Joint Venture

Workers' compensation insurer BrickStreet Mutual Insurance Co. and Motorists Mutual Insurance Co. have received regulatory approvals to affiliate through a joint venture, the companies announced on Monday. The affiliation, first announced in October, creates a super-regional carrier, with 10 offices writing in 29 states. The combined carriers encompass premiums of nearly $1.2 billion, a surplus of nearly $1.55 billion, assets of $4.5 billion and 1,600 employees.
