Researcher Questions Basis for Firefighter Cancer Presumptions

As state lawmakers continue to expand firefighter cancer presumption laws across the nation, a University of California researcher has written an article questioning the scientific basis for the policies. “There is little medical justification for presumption being an appropriate legal approach for anything but the most narrowly defined set of cancers, or none at all,” wrote Frank Neuhauser, a researcher in the Institute for the Study of Societal Issues at UC Berkeley.
