A glitch involving the federal Commercial Repayment Center has led to some workers’ comp payers being referred for U.S. Treasury Department collection action even though they’ve followed proper procedures regarding money owed to Medicare, according to multiple sources.
The problems have reportedly cropped up since contractor Performant Financial Corp. took the helm of the Commercial Repayment Center in mid-February, taking over from previous contractor CGI Federal.
