CWCI: COVID Claims for 2020 Clear 103,000

The December spike in COVID-19 claims continues to grow and has pushed the total number of pandemic-related claims for 2020 past 103,000, the California Workers’ Compensation Institute reports. CWCI on Wednesday said 32,549 cases were filed in December 2020, bringing the total number of claims for accident year 2020 to 103,712. “With additional year-end claims continuing to be filed, CWCI projects that the ultimate COVID-19 claim count for December will be 43,290 claims, while the projected count for all of (accident year) 2020 is 117,989 claims,” the institute said in a pr...
