Legislature Passes Bill Allowing Out-of-State Record Storage

Oregon lawmakers have passed a bill that would allow carriers and self-insured employers to store work comp claim records outside of the state. The Senate on Monday voted 28-0 to pass HB 2039, which was introduced at the request of Gov. Kate Brown. The state House of Representatives voted 54-0 to pass the bill March 16. If enacted, the bill would allow claim records to be stored outside of the state if they are also available to regulators and case participants at a location inside Oregon.
