Federal workplace safety regulators fined a Texas manufacturer and designer of school furniture, saying the company could have prevented an injury by installing machine guards.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration said its investigators learned that in April, a worker at Artco-Bell Corp. was using a garden hose to clean machine rollers when the hose got caught and pulled his arm into the machine. OSHA did not identify the worker or describe the injury beyond saying it was serious, permanent and painful and that it involved the hand and arm.
