A New York woman was ordered to serve three weekends in jail Wednesday after admitting she stole $15,027 in workers’ compensation benefits issued to her dead mother, according to a report by ABC affiliate WWTI.
Michelle M. Ficarro, 55, pleaded guilty to petit larceny in December.
Prosecutors said Ficarro’s mother died in August 2019. Bedivere Insurance Co. continued paying benefits on the claim, and New York State Insurance Fund paid benefits through July 27, 2020.
