A man caught working while receiving benefits under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act was ordered to pay $12,682 in restitution on Thursday, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Maine.
Michael Collins, 63, was also sentenced to three years of probation.
Collins worked as an electrician for Bath Iron Works and said he suffered an injury in May 2018 that left him totally disabled. The employer didn’t dispute the claim and Collins started receiving indemnity benefits and payment for medical care.
