The owner of a Los Angeles adult residential care facility is accused of underreporting his payroll by nearly $6 million to reduce his workers’ compensation premiums by more than $1 million, the California Department of Insurance announced.
Marion Piggee Jr., 68, owned the Center for Behavioral Change. The alleged payroll fraud was discovered during a routine audit of a policy in effect from Nov. 1, 2014, to Nov. 1, 2015. Piggee reported one employee and payroll wages of $8,035, but the audit reportedly identified total paid wages of $881,592.
