The U.S. Department of Labor is publishing an advanced notice of proposed rulemaking for heat injury and illness prevention standards today.
The department said the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration does not have specific rules for hazardous heat conditions and that the action will begin the process of creating a heat-specific workplace safety rule.
