Despite two statements from the Division of Workers’ Compensation that acupuncture is compensable, some claims administrators continue to deny payment for the service, according to a medical billing software provider in Southern California.
Shortly after the division adopted updates to the Official Medical Fee Schedule based on changes made by Medicare that took effect at the start of July, it acknowledged the new payment rules mistakenly indicated that acupuncture wasn’t payable.
