Illinois doctors who treat injured workers are celebrating after the state House of Representatives this week gave final approval to a measure that will put some teeth in their efforts to collect overdue bills from insurers.
“I am optimistic that this legislation will force insurance companies to finally comply with Illinois law with respect to prompt payment of approved claims, and get them compliant with electronic billing,” said David Kanzler, chief executive officer of Hinsdale Orthopedic Associates. He said carriers owe his company $24 million.
