The New York State Inspector General's Office announced that a Port Jervis man pleaded guilty to stealing more than $42,000 in workers' compensation benefits that were issued to his mother, who had died in April 2022.
Randi L. Magpie, who was arrested in February, pleaded guilty July 31 to one count of grand larceny in the third degree, a felony, and one count of petit larceny, a misdemeanor. Magpie will serve one year of probation and pay back $42,000, after which he will be permitted to withdraw his felony plea.
