Bill Would Require Comp Coverage for TNC Drivers

The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries would be required to assess workers’ compensation premiums for drivers for transportation network companies such as Uber and Lyft, under a bill pending in the Legislature. House Bill 2076, by Rep. Liz Berry, D-Seattle, includes a number of provisions relating to rights for people working for companies that use a digital network or other software to connect passengers to drivers for purposes of a prearranged ride.
