The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries said it issued one of its largest workplace safety fines to a farm accused of willfully ignoring rules intended to protect workers from COVID-19.
L&I said it fined Gebbers Farm Operations in Brewster $2,038,200.
The farm clearly understood the steps it was supposed to take, L&I Director Joel Sacks said in a statement.
“Gebbers made it very apparent to investigators they had no intention of following the rules as written regarding temporary agricultural worker housing and transportation,” Sacks said.
