A Minnesota lawmaker introduced legislation that would require adding a code to insurance certificates that could be scanned to verify workers' compensation coverage.
Senate Bill 2256, introduced Thursday by Sen. Clare Oumou Verbeten, D-Roseville, would mandate that every certificate of insurance include a scannable quick response code, or QR code, that is capable of linking to the original certificate of insurance information, including the policy expiration date in the Department of Labor and Industry work comp insurance verification system.
