Injured workers who have to travel to medical or medical-legal appointments will be reimbursed at 54 cents per mile in 2016, the California Division of Workers' Compensation announced.
The per mile reimbursement rate is 3.5 cents lower than the 2015 rate.
The DWC said Labor Code Section 4600, Government Code Section 19820 and Department of Personnel Administration regulations tie reimbursement to the rate set by the Internal Revenue Service. The rate applied to all travel on or after Jan. 1, 2016, regardless of the date of the injury.
