A new drug trend report from Coventry Workers’ Compensation Services shows that opioid use as a percentage of all prescriptions was down last year for both in-network and out-of-network transactions.
But for out-of-network prescriptions, opioids accounted for only 13.5% of total prescriptions in 2016, compared to about 30% of the in-network total. In 2015, opioid prescriptions as a percentage of the total was 15.6% out-of-network and about 31% in-network.
