Louisiana's largest self-insured fund completed the transition to a casualty insurance company at the start of the year.
The Louisiana Commerce and Trade Association self-insured fund operated for 25 years. Executives in 2012 started the process to transition to a mutual insurance company.
LCTA will continue to write only workers' compensation coverage. However, the carrier said in a statement that the transition allows it to expand outside of Louisiana to "develop more risk diversification strategies and cover more risk types."
