A Wisconsin excavation company that allegedly failed to provide cave-in protection for employees working in a trench is facing safety citations and proposed penalties of $69,300 from the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
A-1 Excavating Inc., based in Bloomer, Wisconsin, was issued the citation on Jan. 13.
OSHA inspectors visited a work site in Middleton on July 15, where the company was installing a sewer line, and allegedly saw employees in a 10-foot deep trench without cave-in protection. OSHA issued a citation for one willful violation.
