The New York Workers' Compensation Board has adopted final rules governing how acupuncturists, chiropractors, nurse practitioners and others can apply to become authorized providers.
The rules were required by the state budget bill, which passed in June and expands the types of providers who can treat injured workers. Gov. Andrew Cuomo had vetoed three bills in recent years that would have allowed acupuncturists to provide care, but he signed the budget bill.
