Former CHP Officer Ordered to Pay $183,000 and Jailed for 60 Days

A former California Highway Patrol officer has been ordered to serve 60 days in jail and pay $183,000 for filing a fraudulent workers’ compensation claim, the Sacramento County District Attorney’s office announced last Thursday. Daniel Clapp, who pleaded no contest to misdemeanor workers’ comp fraud, was ordered to pay the CHP $151,972 for benefits he received as well as the cost of the investigation and $31,475 to State Compensation Insurance Fund for disability benefits he was paid when on the dole.
