Some 42 minor league baseball teams could soon be in the market for workers' compensation insurance for players and staff, the result of a proposal that would cut the teams loose from Major League Baseball. MLB could decide after the end of the 2020 season to make the 42 teams independent or part of what it calls a "Dream League." The majors currently pay most of the teams' salaries, workers' compensation and other benefits, but that would all be left to the individual teams under the reorganization plan.
