SACRAMENTO, California — State lawmakers on Wednesday requested an audit comparing medical treatment provided to inmates who were injured while assigned to work details with the treatment provided to correctional officers through the workers’ compensation system.
The Joint Legislative Audit Committee approved the request from Assemblywoman Blanca Rubio, D-West Covina, to contrast how work-related injuries are treated among the different populations in the state’s prison system.
