The Division of Occupational Safety and Health penalized five Southern California grocery stores owned by Kroger a combined $104,380 for allegedly failing to take necessary steps to protect employees from COVID-19.
A Ralphs in Culver City received the largest penalty of $25,560. The agency commonly referred to as Cal/OSHA said the store failed to provide its employees with effective training on how to avoid infection; signs and symptoms of the disease; and how to safely use cleaners and disinfectants. The store also failed to report a worker’s fatal COVID-19 illness.
